The
militants were said to have attempted to capture the town again but
they were pushed back by the army despite arriving the scene with the
T-55 tank.
According to Sahara Reporters, the weapons were eventually seized and more than 100 Boko Haram members were killed.
A military source reportedly said:
"The
sheer power of the tank surprised us. And the tank has camouflage
painting that made it blend with the area in a way that it could not
have easily been detected by Nigerian jets flying over the area,"
The
sect’s possession of the tank is said to be a firm pointer that the
group is receiving a lot of funding from wealthy supporters.
